Another illustration from the ones I started pretty long time ago and recently finished. As usual the original version is about 5 times bigger, so a lot of detail here unfortunately is lost. And about illustration itself, hmm, what to write here. Just farewell...

HALLOWEEN EXCESSES

This post is really hard to translate to english, but lets give it a try. I started paint this illustration long time ago, around All Saints day (same day what Halloween, but in Poland it is sad day, we visit dead people graves etc. but as pop-culture, Halloween comes to our country...)

Halloween is such a trashy holiday for me. And church is also so, hmmm, strange institution. Those both things together somehow associated in my mind in the way how they attract people to come to them. The poorest in all of this are mohair old people (in Poland lot of old granmas wearing caps made of mohair) which does not quite know what's going on, but still come to church. I do not think I need to explain the symbolism of culture and pop culture I used in this illustration. Pumpkin – Halloween, cup - an expression of piety, pitchfork - Satan, evil, etc. At the bottom are mohairs, which I am not really happy with in terms of design, but I hope that you can see what is it :D

TYPICAL COUPLE

Today I post something from the promised illustrations. The ones I was painting a bit longer and they have more details.

Darius and Anya are a typical couple. Darius looks a bit like a gangster, shaved head and weight above the norm, he is very familiar with solarium. He drives a BMW car. He rarely smiles, except the situations he must. He works at father's company which producing plastic caps to siphon under the washbasin. He is the manager and he can shout on staff, whenever he want to feel as a really important person. He has a house (which was built with the father's money) with the most modern home theater. The things he got, makes him a person who is he. When he holds the remote and changing the channels in tv from the car show to a football match he feels like a king of the world.

Anya likes strong, resourceful, imperious and resolute men. She also likes to look good - be fashionably dressed, tanned in a solarium, use an expensive cosmetics, go to the best beauty salons. Shopping malls are her second home. She likes to be lifted everywhere, she does not like to drive. Darius offer her all those things, that's why she loves him.

LAZY WEIGHTLESSNESS

Welcome to the year 2009. The dates start looking like in science fiction movies, which I saw as a child.

Today illustration that a bit connects with the previous one - fast, spontaneous, an experiment. Painted in complete silence. In a state of deep relaxation. Usually silence itself inspires me fairly unpleasant feelings, and I am sitting in silence not very often, this time was different.

Lovzyl and Novikov - Call from Seville - an excellent song, I was painting and listening it. Recently I learned that I have probably synesthesia. Quote from wikipedia - synesthesia is a neurologically based phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. Hmmm, I don't know I don't know. Proximity. Time stops. When we are close to each other, everything is spinning, perfectly wavy. Feeling. Fulfilling.
